Competition Rules
Sir Arthur C. Clarke Memorial Challenge Trophy 2025 is an all-island inter school astronomy quiz competition for school students.
- Up to 3 teams can participate in this competition from each school.
- Each team must consist of 4 members.
- All participants must be school students born after 1st of January, 2007.
🏆 Preliminary Round
The preliminary round of Sir Arthur C. Clarke Memorial Challenge Trophy 2025 (SACCMCT’25) will be held on 25th October 2025, from 8:00 AM onwards, conducted physically at three regional centers island-wide.
A team can face the preliminary round in one of the following exam centers.
Exam Centers (Venues)
- Western Province Centre - Ananda College, Colombo
- Central Province Centre - Dharmaraja College, Kandy
- Southern Province Centre - Richmond College, Galle
Competition Format
- Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Round Type: Written-type question paper
- Question Format: Multiple-choice questions and Essay questions from Astrophysics, Rocketry, Cosmology, and Observational Astronomy.
Guidelines
- Scientific calculators are allowed.
- Using any and all other electronic devices or referring books during the round is strictly prohibited. If any team is found responsible for cheating during the quiz, they will be immediately disqualified from the competition.
Selection Criteria
The top 30 teams from all centers combined will qualify for the Second Round of SACCMCT’25.

The Sir Arthur C. Clarke Memorial Challenge Trophy 2025 aims to inspire and engage the next generation of astronomers and space enthusiasts. Through this competition, the Anandian Astronomical Association seeks to:

Event Timeline
Registration Closed
Participants are required to submit their registrations for the Sir Arthur C. Clarke Memorial Challenge Trophy 2025 before October 20, 2025.
Selection Rounds
The selection rounds of the Sir Arthur C. Clarke Memorial Challenge Trophy 2025 will be held on October 25, 2025 at the nearest exam center. The top finalists from this round will be selected.
Grand Finale
The Finals round as well as the awarding ceremony for the Sir Arthur C. Clarke Memorial Challenge Trophy 2025 will take place in mid-October 2025. The winners will be announced, and the prestigious trophy will be presented to the champion, along with other prizes and recognitions.
